Acción Copán Ruinas has developed several manuals,
children's books and films that are being used in our classes and
for publicity.
* Photo Book "Treasures"
The children of Choncó went on a nature hike to look for treasures: leaves, flowers, seeds, even bugs can be treasures!. December 2010
* Girls in Action's book "Our Favourite Colours"
Book on colour theory made by our students Girls in Action. December 2010
* Textbook "Our Culture: the Maya of Copán Chortí”
As a parting gift for the 500 children participating in our Maya Project, we developed a book on contemporary Maya culture in Copán. The book is full of texts and illustrations about traditions and customs still kept by the people of Copán. September 2010
* Maya DVD
With Dutch volunteer Judith Bardoel we started a new video / theater project. The final result is a DVD with animations on the Mayan culture made by children, a dramatization of a story of the Popol Vuh and interviews the Balám puppet conducted with children in Chorti communities. August-October, 2010
* Children's Newspaper III & IV
With the distribution of the last two editions of our children’s newspaper, we wrapped up this Project. The kids loved to read their own stories, poems, riddles and news, as well as the activities that also appeared in PeriódiCopán. August - October, 2010
*Manual for 8th Children’s' Congress "¡Así vivo mi vida!"
This year we said goodbye to good of Frog and used two human figures, Sofía and Tomás to present the manual for the eight Children’s Congress of Copán Ruinas. The reason for doing so is this year’s theme: HIV/AIDS, which of course includes gender issues and sexuality and that is a bit hard to explain through a frog! Sub-themes are children’s rights, hygiene, nutrition and values. July, 2009
* Activity Book "My Health"
Publication of two activity books (for children 5-8 and 9-12 years old) and accompanying teachers’ manuals. The methodology consist of 30 workshops and is strictly designed for children is remote rural communities. Themes are: mental health, the child's own identity, the human body, hygiene, nutrition, first aid skills, prevention of disasters and AIDS. Commissioned by World Vision. May, 2009
